Illuminating GBA’s focus on artists who move between digital and physical mediums, the specimens conceived for the VR film Honey Fungus translate exquisitely into a digital c-print.

Artists Sue Huang and Jonah King chose a pearlized photo paper that enhances the viscosity and eerie pulsing nature of the human-mushroom bodies. Each fungal avatar is captured dancing and contorting to an individual beat.

These featured specimens are excerpts of the larger world of Honey Fungus, in which mushrooms and mycelium life forms infinitely connect, spread, and evolve in a vivacious splendor.
