These pieces were sewn in 2020 for Sadie and Madison DuVernays’ suits representing Earth and Water. The flower petals were traced from leaves of the invasive Chinese tallow tree, showing beauty within malice.
The waves in Cosmic Garden serve a dual purpose: they represent the water-related issues Louisiana’s communities have struggled with for decades, while also referencing the relationship between elements and life.
